Food and Nutritional Support

Food and Nutritional Support at The Warren Alpert Medical School includes ready-to-eat and easy-to-prepare snacks and meals for those in need.

The Food and Nutritional Support program is designed to address various needs within The Warren Alpert Medical School community, whether related to time constraints or financial challenges. Accessing reasonably priced and convenient food options can be a significant hurdle, and the Program aims to alleviate this burden for community members.

Whether you find yourself pressed for time or facing financial constraints, please consider the Food Cupboard as a valuable resource. We welcome individuals to make use of this initiative based on their level of need, as our primary goal is to ensure everyone in our community has access to well-nourishing options.

Supporting the Initiative

If you are interested in supporting this meaningful initiative, we encourage you to get in touch with the Well-Being Office. Your support will contribute to the success and sustainability of the Food Cupboard, enabling us to reach more members of our community and make a positive impact on their well-being.

Bear Market Food Exchange

Located on the 4th Floor of the Page-Robinson building (across from Room 411), this pantry shelf is stocked by donations from students, faculty, and staff, and supplemented monthly by the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life.

Rhode Island Food Bank

We work with more than 143 food pantries and meal sites that distribute perishable and nonperishable foods that you can choose from based on your dietary needs. Find one local to you. Enter your zip code in the search bar on the map.

Resources for Brown Graduate Students

A comprehensive list of programs and opportunities for graduate students within programs and in the community that provide support such as Ufunds, Project Hand Up, & Supplemental Nutrition Assistance.

Refri-PVD

Refri is a community resource for anyone facing food insecurity. Local farmers, food organizations, and individuals fill it. It is located at 705 Westminster Street, Providence, RI, outside of New Urban Arts.

211 - United Way of Rhode Island

211 is a free, easy-to-use confidential service that can connect you with housing, food, affordable childcare, and much more. Your call is answered by a trained professional who can connect you with the appropriate resources you need in your community. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and translation services are available in many languages.
